An Olmec dark green jade asymmetric polished celt, measuring 80 mm/3.2 ins. in length. Some small inoffensive chips along the cutting edge and some wear to the sides and butt, but otherwise condition good. An old collectors label and a worn white ink inscription reading 'Olmec Jade' on one side, southern central Mexico, Formative period, c. 1st-2nd Millennium B.C.
