Description: A good-sized partially-polished bifacially-flaked grey flint axe with rounded ends. A large flake detached from the underside giving the implement a plano-convex cross-section. Some red banding within the flint providing an attractive stone and a nice example of the type, from Mali.

Date: c. 5th to mid-3rd Millennium B.C.

Provenance: Ex English private collection and acquired on the London art market between 2002 and 2003.
