Description: A large North African red ware oil lamp with pierced ring handle and a mythical 'merman' type sea creature moulded on the discus with palm leaves on the shoulder. Some encrustation particularly on the underside, handle and part of the shoulder, some blackening around the spout, and some wear to the slip, but a good-sized lamp with an interesting depiction. A maker's mark on the base.
