Description: A North African red ware oil lamp with solid lug handle and a ?dancer moulded on the discus, an alternating pattern of closed and open rosettes on the shoulder. Chips to the handle, shoulder and spout, an area of restoration on the spout and on one side of the bowl, but an unusual depiction on the discus, Tunisia.

Size: 140 mm/5.5 ins. in length

Date: c. 5th Century A.D.

Provenance: From the estate of a deceased London collector.

Background: The collector, who worked as a buyer for Fortnum and Mason, Piccadilly, London, built up a fine collection of coins and antiquities purchased from leading London dealers.
