Description: A grey flint endscraper with deep brown patination and a substantial area of cortex remaining on one side. The implement was attached by cord (now broken) to an annotated card. The card foxed and with some corner tears and creases. Found at Wanborough, near Guildford, Surrey, in 1931.
Size: Scraper 55 x 40 mm/2.1 x 1.6 ins., annotated card, 60 x 92 mm/2.4 x 3.6 ins.
Culture: Neolithic or older
Date: c. 3rd Millennium B.C. or earlier.
Notes: Described as possibly Upper Palaeolithic and of Le Moustier period on card.
A nice example of the careful recording of small artefacts by early 20th Century collectors.
