Description: A grey flint cordate handaxe of plano-convex cross-section with a dense dull yellowish-white patination.  An area of cortex remaining on one side and an irregular drusy cavity on the other, some iron staining and the point chipped, otherwise condition good and an inexpensive example. Reputedly from Coleshill, near Faringdon, Berkshire.

Size: 79 mm/3.1 ins. in length

Culture: Palaeolithic

Date: Probably before 50,000 years B.P.

Provenance: From a south Hampshire private collection and acquired from F.S. Clark, Guildford, Surrey, in 1979.

If the find locality is correct perhaps an isolated surface find.
