Description: A fawn and red chert pointed handaxe of classic form with some abrasion of the surface due to exposure to desert winds and with a dull patina, but a nice example with attractive stone. Recovered from the Idehan Marzug dune field, southwest Libya, close to the border with Chad.

Provenance: Reputedly bought to England by a British soldier who served in North Africa during the Second World War, who obtained it from Bedouin traders.
