Description: A good-sized iron adze head with flared blade and shaft hole, rust-patinated and would benefit from conservation but stable. An attached label states this as Iron Age and found at Missenbury, Wiltshire, from a dwelling site, and authenticated at the British Museum in 1985. We have been unable to locate ‘Missenbury’ and feel a Roman date is more probable.
Size: 164 mm/6.4 ins. in length
