Description: A fawn chert burin-like tool made from a truncated flake with the dark to medium brown patina typical of Egyptian desert finds. Some retouching along the edges and some modern chips exposing the colour of the chert, otherwise condition good.

Culture: Egyptian
Date: Upper Palaeolithic, c. 30,000 - 40,000 years B.P., although possibly older.
Provenance: Previously the property of a Surrey collector.
Possibly used for engraving or for carving wood or bone.
