Description: An outstanding collection of fawn and brown flint arrowheads mounted using cord on a rectangular card. The arrowheads include Early Neolithic leaf-shaped forms and Late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age tanged and barbed types. Most of the arrowheads of fine workmanship and excellent examples. Twenty-one arrowheads in all plus a grey flint flake and a fragmentary part-polished rectangular grey flint blade. A few arrowheads with small chips to the tips and two with one barb lost, the card yellowed with some foxing, but overall condition good. The arrowheads stated on card as being found at Cromlybank, Esdemont and Cutterfanny, Scotland, in 1810. One point perhaps an addition and probably native American (bottom row, 2nd from right).
Size: The card measures 277 mm/10.9 ins. across, with the arrowheads measuring 20 mm/0.8 in. to 46 mm/1.8 ins. in length.

Notes: The localities given are no longer found on modern maps. However, they do occur on 19th Century Scottish land registers. Cromlybank is in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Esdemont is also in Aberdeenshire. Cutterfanny may be a rendering of Coulterfanny, which is near Tyrie in Aberdeenshire.
