Description: A long restrung necklace of blue, brown and white faience beads of varied type, including long tubular and small circular beads, blue disc beads, flattened plaques, ornamented beads and crude amuletic types. The beads in good condition and the string notable for the wide range of bead types present.

Size: The string measures approximately 500 mm/19.7 ins. in length

Date: The beads dating from the New Kingdom - Late Dynastic Period, c. 1550-300 B.C.

Provenance: From the collection of Julian Bird (1959-2014).

Background: Julian Bird was a passionate collector of Egyptian antiquities, who built up a fine and extensive collection from the 1970s onwards. He sourced his items mainly from the UK market, from specialist dealers, fairs, markets and auctioneers. He was a model collector, carefully documenting his collection, although we do not have his notes on this particular item.
