Description: A group of blue faience beads, both long cylindrical types and small circular beads, restrung as a necklace, approximately 104 beads in all, with five large blue faience lotus beads forming the centrepiece. Some beads showing minor wear and some of the lotus beads with small edge chips, otherwise condition good.

Size: The necklace measures approximately 700 mm/27.5 ins. in length, with the long cylindrical beads 8-22 mm/0.3-0.9 in. in length and the small circular beads, 2-3 mm/0.1 in. in diameter. The lotus beads 12-13 mm/0.5 in. long.

Culture: Egyptian

Date: The lotus beads dating from the New Kingdom, c. 1200 B.C., the other beads possibly later, 1st Millennium B.C.

Provenance: Ex Dorset private collection and acquired from Millennia Antiquities, Whitton Mews, Norwich, in October 2005 (supplied with the original invoice from Millennia Antiquities and a collectors label).
