A Roman bronze crossbow brooch, c. 4th Century A.D.

Description: A good-sized bronze crossbow brooch with onion-shaped terminals. The catchplate with low raised square plates at each end, one with four blind holes and the other on the foot with six blind holes. The brooch has a dark brown patina which is glossy on the bow. The crossbar slightly flexed and the central terminal bent, the pin missing.
