Description: A group of three fragmentary blue faience amulets comprising the upper part of a seated figure of Isis suckling the infant Horus, the lower part and the infant missing with the crown broken and glaze worn; the lower part of a seated Isis figure; and a torso fragment of a goddess with pierced back pillar.

Size: The upper part of the Isis figure 27 mm/1.1 ins. high, the lower part of the Isis figure, 15 mm/0.6 in. across the base, and the torso fragment 20 mm/0.8 in. high

Culture: Egyptian

Date: Late Dynastic Period, c. 730-300 B.C.

Provenance: From the collection of Julian Bird (1959-2014). The upper part of the seated Isis figure acquired in Bournemouth in 1973, the lower part fragment acquired in 1976-77, and the torso fragment acquired in Brighton in 1977.

Background: Julian Bird was a passionate collector of Egyptian antiquities, who built up a fine and extensive collection from the 1970s onwards. He sourced his items mainly from the UK market, from specialist dealers, fairs, markets and auctioneers. He was a model collector, carefully documenting his collection, and his notes on these particular items will be supplied to the buyer.
